Youth Ministry
Develop, transform and empower Youth’s life through prayers, bible study and evangelism
The Youth Ministry of the Nile Sudanese Lutheran Mission will develop, transform and empower the Youth’s life through prayers, bible study and evangelism. The Youth Ministry will provide leadership workshops which will create passive self-esteem toward one’s self and the other peers. The bible study, petitions, meditation, and prayers will be the core value the NSLM Youth Ministry. To enhance positive self-esteem, the youth of the Nile Sudanese Lutheran Mission will participate in the community soccer games and conduct retreats twice a year.
Youth Cultural Program
The Nile Sudanese Lutheran Mission is running a Youth Cultural program to impact quality of life for Youth located to New York from the war torn Sudan. The program will maintain traditional African Christian values through cultural activities. By using drums and dance from East and West African, Youth will engage in cultural exploration and incorporate community practices from the African continent in their daily life here in this new society. The program will provide a village style setting to poster extended community that will keep the focus on the Nile Sudanese Lutheran Mission on positive way. We want to generate community connections that allow both adults and youth to participate in cultural practice that otherwise would be lost to them. Values systems in the Sudan and other African nations are distinct and differ from the normal American culture. We want to give youth a safe place to express their cultural identity while merging the positive aspects of both cultural systems.
Vision of the Program
The Youth will explore rhythms, Dance, and theater for social awareness techniques. They will construct rites of passages presentations for themselves and their peers. The Youth will perform in congregational and community functions representing their cultural heritage and their role in the Nile Sudanese Lutheran Mission.
