Sudan War - The Image of Good Friday
"So the soldiers, their officers, and the Jews police arrested Jesus and bound him (Jn 18:12)." "He was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities…by his bruises we are healed... and by the preservation of justice, he was taken away (Isa. 53: 5-12 )."
The image was a Catholic Priest celebrating his 10th anniversary of his ordination by remembering the suffering and the anguish of the people of Sudan. This priest organized his congregation to rally at the Sudanese Embassy in Washington, D.C. where he was arrested and bounded by the D.C. Police for praying for the atrocities committed against the people of the Sudan, right at the door of the Embassy. The congregation of this priest were singing the human right song that says “We are not afraid, We shall live in Peace…!” and chanting “Stop the genocide!”
Can you joint the Catholic this priest in praying for the people of Sudan! According to the United Nations report 18,000 died only in Darfur, the western region of Sudan in the last two years, and 2.5 million died in South Sudan in the last 21 years. Peace was between the Southern rebels and Sudan government was signed, but many are still suffering and dying in Darfur.
