Nile Youth Ministry
Suffering Darfurian Advocacy
The Nile Lutheran Youth performs at various area congregations and recreational centers across Upstate New York advocating for peace and justice in Darfur. The Suffering Darfurian Advocacy is a story telling ministry outplayed in the arts of dance.
“Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands at a distance; for truth stumbles in the public square, and uprightness cannot enter” Isaiah 59:14. Darfurians have witnessed the worst humanitarian crisis in the modern history of mankind. In the last six years, over 300,000 have been killed; 4 million have been displaced and countless women and children have been abducted and raped. The world is watching helplessly as ethnic cleansing rages.
Where is God’s righteousness and justice in all of this? The Nile Lutheran Youth takes on the road an advocacy ministry focusing on peace and justice in Darfur. The dance portrays refugees fleeing the war, Janjaweed militia attacking the refugees, bombs falling on the displaced Dafurians, families searching for the loves ones and women and children fleeing from abduction and rape. Justice, righteousness and truth stand at a distance or stumble in the public squares to all Darfurians. However, the Suffering Darfurions Advocacy is a powerful testimony that captures the reality in Darfur; Western Sudan.
